The architectural, town planning and urban design side of the practice was founded in 1996 by Don O'Neill, AIA, MRIAI, licensed architect in USA, Ireland and Germany. Previously he had been a Divisional Director with D Y Davies Architects, London and Belfast, where he was responsible for the Foyleside urban redevelopment of Derry in the 1980s. In the early 1990s he was one of the founding members of the Development Planning Division at Agiplan, near Dusseldorf, where he master planned projects throughout Germany, converting former military bases to civilian use following the ending of the Cold War. In 1996 he founded O'Neill Consulting in Dusseldorf, specialising in the design management of projects with high architectural and urban design quality in both Germany and Ireland. Since 2005 the practice has been operating mainly in Ireland from its purpose built Architectural Design Studio near Dromineer, Nenagh, illustrated right. The firm provides integrated master planning and business consulting while the architectural practice offers individual consulting and often joint ventures with other firms on projects in Ireland and abroad, examples of which are listed below
